Meet “The Lady Contractor”!

Welcome! Thanks for visiting my blog! I’m Alexandra Whiteside, “The Lady Contractor.”   I am both a professional interior designer and Virginia Class A building contractor.  I started in interior design and construction project management in New York City 25 years ago, and now I own Chelsea Custom Contracting, a Virginia Beach based design-build firm. I do residential and commercial remodeling and new construction projects, including custom homes and modular homes.

I am a huge proponent of modular home building, green building techniques, and accessibility design. I am a member of the the Institute for Human Centered Design (Adaptive Environments), I’m an ENERGY STAR  Builder Partner, and I am an approved independent builder for Excel Homes.

I love sharing my ideas, advice and experiences in interior design and general contracting.

I’m also a certified professional life coach with an advanced certification in group coaching. My coaching business grew out of my design-build profession which naturally involves a lot of coaching to transition my clients through the construction process, which can otherwise be very scary and stressful!

I offer individual and group coaching sessions for personal and/or professional development, including life balance, leadership, team building and peak performance. I also offer workshops and seminars to the general public throughout the year, and am available for motivational speaking engagements. If you are outside of my Hampton Roads Virginia area, I can still coach you! Sessions are held via Skype.
